This is a little photo diary of a week in my life! Although, this is undeniably a strange time to be sharing our first week in LA. It’s not lost on me that while my family and I are easily integrating ourselves back into Los Angeles, the lives of the very people who make this city what it is, are being torn apart in heartbreakingly inhumane ways.
Things are looking much less chaotic now, than last week when the above photo was taken. We had a great experience with our movers, who I found through one of you, which I am so grateful for! If you’re ever looking for cross country movers, I absolutely recommend the company we used.

Not much down time was had before heading into a weekend of celebrations, which started with my good friend’s bridal shower. I always found dressing for showers challenging because the typical dress code never felt aligned with my personal style. But this go around I didn't let myself get caught up in what people usually wear, and I felt like myself while still being dressed for the occasion.

A new place calls for a fresh crop of products…and this move was the perfect excuse to break out some products I had been hoarding in my cabinets.
Starting with a household essential, detergent. I’m ridiculously particular when it comes to scents, and switching up my laundry detergent felt like a big deal. But I’m now hooked on Dedcool’s Detergent, and there’s no going back. I use their Milk scent, and the fact that they also make a Xtra Milk scent, is the reassurance I needed that the one I use is in fact subtle enough for my liking.
For the shower, I broke out Wonder Valley’s wash and scrub duo, and if I close my eyes I swear I’m in an outdoor shower, somewhere remote, maybe in Joshua Tree. I’ve also been dabbling in perfumes and am liking St. Rose’s Lété 67. It smells exactly like summer.
Fara Homidi recently launched a velvety, creamy but somehow powder bronzer, and like everything else she touches, it’s phenomenal. I use the shade lumen and as much as I hate to admit it, the brush is half the experience.

I had a quick run in with the eye doctor last week, and he told me that I should be wearing sunglasses anytime I left the house. So I took that as our sign to head out on our first solo mission (meaning me + Willa, obviously), and to The Row we went. Doctors orders.
We also stopped into Violet Grey to pick up a new eyelash curler. I also walked out with this aroma oil because, as I told you, I’m dabbling in scents now (and am a sucker for anything Costa Brazil).
Being in LA means more time in the car just the two of us, which is new for us. In Chicago we mostly walked everywhere, and if we were getting in the car it was usually a family outing, which meant Max was in the driver seat and I was in the back with Willa. She’s still getting used to riding alone in the back, but I think our major carseat upgrade is helping. We were using the Doona, which serves a purpose, but I despised buckling her in. This new carseat has way more cushion and room for her to grow. Buckling her in is so easy and I love that it rotates. Seriously makes putting her in the car a joy.
The pancakes I make for Willa (and myself!) all the time: 1 banana, 1 egg, a heaping scoop of almond butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon. I cut hers into strips and it’s one of our least messy meals. But I really included this to share that I think I’m growing up - I’m ready to make the switch to all stainless steel cookware. Very exciting stuff.

A blow dry and quick pant change later, and we were off to another early dinner.

I stopped by Otherling’s summer showcase at Sunset Tower over the weekend, and got to see so many great brands IRL - Metier, Nu Swim, Maison Krasnova, Liberowe, Kye Intimates, amongst others.

For how resistant I was to the move, I am grateful to be feeling so settled in such a short amount of time.
Thanks for being here!
So fun!!! Welcome (back) to LA! We live in West Hollywood not far from melrose place. Some baby friendly places we love : great white (melrose or larchmont), sals place, terroni, la Betola (larchmont), cookbook (larchmont), obviously farmshop for brunch in Brentwood and the country mart in general! ❤️❤️
I speak on behalf of Chicago when I say it will miss you!!!!! So so happy the move went smoothly ❤️
