Because realistically, we want to wear sweatpants. And look somewhat presentable while doing so.
Here are a few straightforward styling formulas to elevate your loungewear.
Necklace + Ballet Flats
Potentially pushing it here with the oversized pants + shirt, but there are two key pieces helping the cause - this necklace (wearing the 16in) and ballet flats. I’ve been wearing these two pieces repeatedly to keep things from feeling too casual. The tied knit also adds an additional layer and makes things feel more complete.
A note on the Donni pants: They’re launching today and run a smidge big, so if you’re between two sizes, size down. And yes, they’re as comfortable as they look.
Monochrome Knits
These are two of my most worn pieces, two years running. Lauren Manoogian makes beautiful, sustainable knitwear that can serve as outerwear. The amount of times I’ve thrown this cardigan on running out the door... Highlyyyy recommend investing in one of her pieces. They’re cozy, functional, presentable and easy to wear.
Nothing Oversized.. or Add a Blazer
I’m a fan of comfortable and oversized, but if you’re going for a more polished look, fitted silhouettes are a simple way to get there. You can always throw on an oversized blazer to finish off the look.
I can not rave about these pants enough (launching later today). As far as loungewear goes, these pants are ittt and they feel like butter (47% modal / 47% cotton / 6% spandex). Usually a pant like this doesn’t work for me, but something about the material and cut makes them just right - I sized up and am so glad I did. Donni makes really good pants. End of story.
And Flore Flore makes some of the best classic cotton basics. Again, the ballet flats having a strong impact.
Black Coat + Clutch + Necklace
I’m really wearing a mismatched grey sweatsuit… but the necklace, coat and clutch make up for it. Pair any long black coat with a structured bag and you instantly look more put together.
All Black + Pop of Color
Another great pair of Lisa Yang cashmere pants, she really does make some of the nicest cashmere pieces. Something about this outfit feels right for a long flight or travel day.
Add a Trench
Another example of a good coat + necklace going a long way.
I’ve always loved SPRWMN sweats, but this style is new to me. I love the pockets and flared cut, and an all black sweatsuit is essential in every closet for those days you just don’t feel like getting dressed.
